1- Why does Newton Grammar School need to participate in Educational Accreditation?

In Vietnam, the Ministry of Education and Department of Education and training manage, inspect, and evaluate the quality of education of schools. However, this relationship is always related to guidance and daily exchange, so it is quite friendly and familiar, which results in a lack of objectiveness. Therefore, it is necessary to have an organization which is independent and knowledgeable about education, unaffected by subordinate – superior relationship, and as reputable as possible.

In addition, most parents once sending their children to school were often concerned about their children’s grades and scores in every exam and did not pay much attention to the environment that shapes the children’s personality. A good learning environment must be oriented from many aspects: discipline, study, activities aligning with the slogan, vision, mission, and core values ​​of the school. This is often provided by the school and needs to be evaluated by parents, but parents are often busy or are not well informed of the criteria. Therefore, it is very important to have a reputable independent organization of education to evaluate and inspect the criteria to decide whether the school fulfills those criteria. Is it safe to send children to a school when the school promotes itself and has not been evaluated by any organization yet?

In the world, schools accredited by prestigious organizations are always have:

assured quality and advanced teaching methods which are constantly updated
Degrees/ Certificates issued by schools are recognized and the schools are readily invested by the government or economic organizations
Students graduating from these schools are given priority to be admitted to high-ranking universities.
Marketing for each student and school.
Therefore, educational accreditation of each school is very necessary and inevitable.

2- Cognia Accreditation

Based on the determination to build a strong education corporation and strengthen a firm belief for parents, from June 2021, all schools under EQuest Education group (of which Newton Interschool System is currently one of its members) will participate in the accreditation by the most famous educational accrediting organization in the US – Cognia.

Cognia (USA) is a leading International Accreditation Organization in the world, owning three of the top six regional accrediting units in the US, namely Western North America, Central North America, and the South, with a history of 125 years and it is recognized by the United States Department of Education. Cognia is an accrediting organization with many new and quite strict criteria. Cognia is currently piloting education-related programs in 80 countries worldwide. Cognia evaluates based on 34 rigorous criteria, divided into three standards with different assessment criteria: Leadership capacity, Learning capacity, Resources capacity.

Schools will receive standard accreditations from the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI), Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWAC), and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI) after being accredited.

The Newton Grammar School system always has high expectations for its learning environment and focuses on teaching quality, effective learning, compliance with regulations, and leadership skills training.
