Newton Grammar School was established in 2008, under Decision No. 954/QD-UBND of the People’s Committee of Hanoi City. The School is located at the Water Sports Palace, My Dinh National Sports Complex.
School year 2021-2022
With 3 campuses, even though 7 consecutive months of the school year were off because of Covid-19 pandemic, the number of students still increased significantly: 5,700 students.
School year 2020-2021
3 rapidly growing campuses with 4,700 students, with thousands of domestic and international awards.

  • July 2014: The School maintained the university entrance exam results with high rankings: 17th out of more than 245 Hanoi high schools, 2nd among non-public high schools and 1st in non-public high schools with foreign elements.
  • April 2014: Newton officially relocated from My Dinh National Sports Complex to a new campus in Hoang Quoc Viet Urban Area with the most spacious and modern facilities in the capital.
  • For many years, the School has been awarded the title of Excellent Advanced Labour Collective by the City People’s Committee, and the Certificate of Merit from the Ministry of Education and Training: for recognition of outstanding achievements in the process of construction and development in the period 2009-2014
  • September 2014: The School successfully held the 5th anniversary of the establishment and officially inaugurated Campus 1 (in Hoang Quoc Viet Street) built by the school, which was the most spacious and modern in the capital.
  • School year 2014-2015: The School won 106 prizes in Academic Competitions for Gifted Students at all levels, maintained its position in the top 20 schools with the highest university entrance exam scores in Hanoi, 100% of students passed into Domestic Universities and Foreign Universities. The School was also awarded the title of Excellent Advanced Labour Collective by the City People’s Committee, and the Certificate of Merit from the Ministry of Education and Training: for recognition of outstanding achievements in the emulation movement of “Good Teaching – Good Learning”.

  • July 2013: Students of grade 12, session 2, took the university entrance examination with excellent results. Newton’s university entrance scores ranked 12th out of more than 245 Hanoi high schools; ranked 2nd among non-public high schools; ranked 1st among non-public high schools with foreign elements.

Newton achieved impressive results in English Competitions for Gifted Students and became the Northern champion in the Toefl Junior competition.

The School signed an Association Agreement with George Washington International School (GWIS). Newton became the first High School in Hanoi to sign an Association Agreement with a Foreign School approved by the Ministry of Education to implement the program of high school association and granting American High School Diploma in Vietnam. Initially, the implementation was difficult as the students’ English background was still not good, but with the determination of the school’s Board, the program was implemented, and brought students many excellent and dominant results.

The School participated in the Hanoi Open Mathematics-English Competition (a prestigious Academic Competition for Gifted Students with the participation of international students and students from schools for the gifted across the country) and won 1 Third Prize, 1 Consolation Prize. This was the first time that Newton had been in contact with schools for the gifted, but it created a motivation for students to participate in the academic competitions for gifted students.

After the first school year, the School received huge attention from parents and students in Hanoi. In the opening ceremony for the second school year, the School welcomed more than 120 new first graders with three 10th grade classes, two 6th grade classes and one 1st grade class and also in this 2nd school year, Newton made its mark in Academic Competition for Gifted Students with more than 20 district-level prizes.

In the 3rd year, Newton had the first grade 12 students participating in high school graduation examination and university entrance examination with great success, which was the result of Newton education system. The school was highly ranked 22nd in university entrance exam scores out of 245 high schools in Hanoi; among the top 150/2700 high schools with the highest university entrance exam scores in the country. This was a result achieved by only a few private schools at that time.

Newton Grammar School was established in 2008, under Decision No. 954/QD-UBND of the People’s Committee of Hanoi City. The School is located at the Water Sports Palace, My Dinh National Sports Complex.

August 2009: Newton organized the first opening ceremony of the new school year with 71 first-graders: 45 students in Grade 10, 14 students in  Grade 6 and 12 students in Grade 1.
